Randy Krummenacher had the honour of seeing his name at the head of the Moto2 timesheets during second free practice at Mugello as light rain continued to make its presence felt at the Italian venue.

Having already disrupted the MotoGP FP2 session, the rain became steadier and more consistent during the Moto2 session, allowing riders the confidence to set more times, albeit more than 17 seconds down on the dry FP1 session earlier in the day.

As such, Krummenacher was quickest aboard the IodaRacing machine, ahead of Johann Zarco and - winner of the previous two Moto2 races - Mika Kallio.

In the dry, however, it was Moto2 leader Esteve Rabat that was the day's overall pace setter, ahead of German racer Sandro Cortese and Thomas Luthi, with Jonas Folger and Alex de Angelis completing the top five.
