Pedrosa: Track nice, amazing atmosphere

10 June 2014

Dani Pedrosa will be hoping that a strong past record at his home Catalunya round, plus the all-clear for his healing arm, will help finally end team-mate Marc Marquez's unbeaten run.

Fellow Spaniard and reigning champion Marquez is yet to be headed in a qualifying session or race this season, including an exciting victory over Jorge Lorenzo last time at Mugello, when Pedrosa struggled with his arm on the way to a distant fourth.

However while Marquez has won just once in Barcelona, in the 2010 125cc race, Pedrosa has been victorious in all three grand prix classes, holds the pole and race lap records, and contained Marquez to finish a close second to Lorenzo last year.

“Mugello was more difficult than I expected and my arm still wasn't 100%,” said Pedrosa, who underwent 'arm pump' surgery in May.

“I had a check-up with Dr. Mir after the race who confirmed everything is healing correctly, so I hope this weekend it will have improved and I can be in the battle at the front.

“As always, I'm looking forward to going to Montmelò, the track is nice but the atmosphere is amazing!

“We will have to work hard but I hope that the bike works well there as you spend a lot of time on the edge of the tyre here so a great set-up is a huge advantage! Let's hope the weather is nice and it's a good weekend!”

Pedrosa lost second in the world championship by just one point to Valentino Rossi at Mugello.

Unlike Marquez, Pedrosa is yet to sign for 2015 and gave this response to the official MotoGP website when asked about his plans:

"My first option is always to continue with Honda, I have been here my entire career and because we respect each other, we are interested in talking to each other first. There is nothing on the table yet, but Honda is my first option."
