Sam Lowes saw his best chance yet of a debut Moto2 podium slip away when he fell during Saturday's wet Dutch race at Assen.

The reigning World Supersport champion had rocketed from third on the grid to lead his first grand prix lap, then settled into second behind Simone Corsi.

However disaster struck when he lost control on lap 9 of 24 (pictured), then had a highside shortly after remounting, ending his race.
