MotoGP champion Marc Marquez and Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa made their debuts on next year's RC213V during day two of private testing at Brno.

After a wet weather fall on day one, Marquez took a second tumble early on Wednesday but was again unharmed and later joined Pedrosa in trying the 2015 prototype.

Marquez completed 53 laps on the current machine and 20 laps on next year's bike, citing corner speed improvements.

"The second day went fairly well, although the grip level was still not as high as we would have liked in order to correctly carry out the testing that we had planned; when we wanted to go a little faster to get closer to the limit and evaluate things, it was very risky," said the 21-year-old, unbeaten after the first half of the 2014 season. "Giving it a try this morning I had another crash at Turn 5; once again, I lost grip with the front end.

"During the day we were able to try out the new bike and the first impressions are fairly good. Obviously there are positive things and not-so-positive things, but the first impression is satisfactory. We put in similar times with the new bike to what we did with the current model, so we are happy."

Pedrosa, second in the world championship but already 77 points behind Marquez, completed 41 laps on his 2014 bike, concentrating on mapping settings, and 16 laps on the new prototype.

"Today we put in plenty of laps, all of them on a dry surface," said Pedrosa. "The weather was more stable and allowed us to try a lot of things. The track still didn't have too much grip, but we were able to put more kilometres under our belts and get a first impression of the new bike. The new machine is still in its infancy, but we have some good ideas for when we next get a chance to test it - at the end of the year."

Honda did not release any lap times.

In terms of Honda's rivals, Yamaha handed an early version of its 2015 engine to Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo at last month's post-Catalunya test, while next year's Ducati engine is not expected to be given to the grand prix team until November's post-season Valencia test.

The new-for-2014 Factory class engine development freeze means all engines must be of identical specification throughout the racing season, within the same team.

Both Marquez and Pedrosa have re-signed with Honda until the end of 2016, while Repsol announced that it will continue as title sponsor until at least the end of 2017 on Wednesday morning.

Honda's Brno test concludes on Thursday evening after which the team will start its summer break prior to round ten at Indianapolis on August 10.

In previous years Ducati has often been the first to test next year's bike and look where that has got them.
Both the Honda and Yamaha are essentially evolutions of the current model. The Ducati will truly be a new bike radically different to the GP14. Will it prove to be a big step forward or a dog? Time will tell.
