Parkes, de Puniet, Schwantz among Bridgestone 8 Hours line-up

MotoGP racer Broc Parkes, Suzuki MotoGP test rider Randy de Puniet, MotoGP podium-finisher Katsuyuki Nakasuga and former 500cc world champion Kevin Schwantz head Bridgestone's line-up for this weekend's Suzuka 8 Hours.

Bridgestone is seeking to extend its record winning streak at the event - which also forms round two of the FIM Endurance World Championship - to nine victories.

"Bridgestone has a long and successful history at the 8 Hours and as the Endurance World Championship is one of the few top-level motorsport series where multiple tyre manufacturers go head-to-head in competition, this race holds special significance for us," said Hiroshi Yamada, manager of Bridgestone's Motorsport Department.

"Bridgestone is famous for its exploits in MotoGP, but the Suzuka 8 Hours provides us with another great opportunity to show the world that our motorcycle tyres are unmatched in terms of performance, safety and durability."

Parkes, the only current full time MotoGP rider taking part, will be swapping his usual PBM for a Monster Energy-backed Yamaha R1.

“I'm really excited for Suzuka and would really like to thank Yamaha for giving me this opportunity again,” said the Australian, who will ride alongside Nakasuga and BSB star Josh Brookes. “I think this year we have a very strong team and have shown in testing already that we have a chance to fight at the front. For me Suzuka is the hardest physical race on my calendar this year.”

The MuSASHi RT HARC-PRO Honda team of Takumi Takahashi, Leon Haslam and Michael van der Mark won last year's Suzuka 8 Hours.

Bridgestone will cease its role as MotoGP's exclusive tyre supplier at the end of 2015.
