MotoGP Indianapolis: Aleix Espargaro 'Suzuki my priority'

"The last week we decided just to keep working with Suzuki" - Aleix Espargaro.
Aleix Espargaro is now working solely towards reaching an agreement with Suzuki for the 2015 MotoGP season.

The Spaniard has dominated the new Open class for Forward Yamaha - claiming pole at Assen, a best race finish of fourth and holding sixth in the championship standings - and wants a Factory ride next year.

Asked about his 2015 plans at Indianapolis on Thursday, Espargaro replied: "Everybody knows my priority is to join Suzuki next year but it is not fixed yet... I hope it will be done in the next weeks."

Espargaro added: "Before Germany we had a couple of good options [for 2015] and we decided to think about those options during the summer break. The last week we decided just to keep working with Suzuki."

Assuming Espargaro departs, Forward will have two new riders next year, with Colin Edwards retiring at the end of this season.

One of the 2015 Forward Yamaha seats has already been filled with the news that Stefan Bradl, recently replaced by Cal Crutchlow at LCR Honda, will join the team.

“With Stefan it surprised me. I was in New York and just saw it on Twitter," said Espargaro. "I wish him good luck at Forward. He will find a really good team, family. I hope he's not really fast and I can beat him!”

Rookie Moto2 race winner Maverick Vinales is tipped to join Espargaro at Suzuki. Returning to MotoGP for the first time since 2011, Suzuki will join Ducati in being able to race with the Open class benefits.
