MotoGP Indianapolis: Edwards 'I’ll be at Silverstone, Valencia'

"The races I definitely am going to are Silverstone and Valencia" - Colin Edwards.
Colin Edwards believes he will race the Silverstone and Valencia MotoGP rounds, but is playing the other events 'by ear'.

The popular Texan is retiring at the end of the season but, for reasons that are not yet clear, looks set to be replaced by Alex de Angelis for most of the eight rounds after Indianapolis.

After finishing 16th in Friday practice at Indy, his final MotoGP in America, Edwards said: "The rest of the year is just going to be hit-or-miss. The races I definitely am going to are Silverstone and Valencia. Other than that, we'll just have to play it by ear.

"I'm still going to be working with the guys, trying to get this chassis working. The swing arm we got this week doesn't fit. We need a shoehorn or something to shove it in there."

Silverstone takes place at the end of August while Valencia will host the season finale in mid-November.

Former MotoGP podium finisher de Angelis raced for Forward in Moto2 last season, but has switched to the Tasca Racing outfit for 2014. de Angelis is 15th in the championship standings.

Edwards' Open class leading team-mate Aleix Espargaro is planning a switch to Suzuki next year, while Stefan Bradl has recently been signed as one of Forward's 2015 MotoGP riders.

What's the obsession with deangelis? That guy is condistsnyly an underachiever and I just can't see why a team like forward isn't giving a chance to one of the moto2 stand-outs??
