HRC vice president Shuhei Nakamoto has confirmed that the 2015 Open class Honda will be powered by this year's Factory class MotoGP engine.
The debut season of the Honda RCV1000R Production Racer has seen the 'for sale' machine struggle for engine performance.
As a result the 2015 bike will run the pneumatic-valve RC213V engine, which world champion Marc Marquez has taken to victory in all ten races so far this year.
"This year's Factory engine specification, we will give for Open class machine next season," said Nakamoto.
The Open machine will not have the cutting edge seamless shift gearbox of the Factory bikes. But, by running the Open class control ECU, it will still be eligible for extra race fuel and a softer rear tyre.
Honda's move mirrors that of Yamaha, which has supplied Factory class engines, chassis and swing-arms to the Forward Racing team this season.
Aleix Espargaro has taken the package to a pole position and is seventh in the world championship, but it is unclear if Yamaha will continue to supply chassis parts in 2015.

"Open class is Open class. You can lease or you can sell. No mention [in the regulations]," replied Nakamoto, who admitted: "This is the reason we are thinking to lease the Factory engine for [the Open class] next season."
Aspar, Gresini and Cardion AB currently run the Open class Honda. LCR are also rumoured to be looking to acquire one of the upgraded bikes next year for Moto3 title leader Jack Miller.
"We are very interested in Jack. We are talking, but nothing is done," said Nakamoto of the growing Miller-to-MotoGP speculation.
There was no word on the price of the upgraded Open Honda package, but it could well blur the line with the satellite Honda machines (at Gresini and LCR) in terms of cost and performance.
