MotoGP Silverstone: Marquez ready to give it 100%

“This year I hope to be fully fit so I can give it 100% in the race!”
Marc Marquez will be aiming to seal the crack in his 2014 MotoGP invincibility at this weekend's Silverstone round.

After winning all ten previous races the reigning champion was finally beaten, by Repsol Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa, at Brno. The 21-year-old could now stamp out the ray of hope offered to his beleaguered rivals at this weekend's British MotoGP.

Victory would also make amends for a rare last lap defeat at the hands of Jorge Lorenzo one year ago, where Marquez defied a dislocated shoulder in warm-up to battle the Yamaha rider to the chequered flag.

“Brno was a difficult weekend but the most important thing is that we took important points,” said Marquez, who finished fourth in the Czech Republic. “Also, I feel less pressure now as I know everyone was expecting me to win all of them, and it's the championship that's important, not winning every race!

“We had a good test on the Monday and then some time off after a hectic back-to-back schedule. Last year my race was affected by my crash in warm-up so this year I hope to be fully fit so I can give it 100% in the race!”

Marquez holds a huge 77-point lead over Pedrosa with seven rounds to go.

Honda is simply the best machine out there. No question. As far as the MM has the top shelf and Dani gets the scraps argument, I don't know that I can paint it up as being that simple. Somewhere in a stack of magazines from the past I have an article on Rainey talking about having Kocinski as a team-mate, and how John always complained about having the lesser machine... anytime WR would have a change made JK insisted the same be done for him. When JK accused WR of having the faster motor WR said "ok let's switch".... it was to the point that Rainey was asking for little things to be done to his bike that weren't required but he knew it would get in Kocinski's head. Point to it all? The rider still makes a difference. They are both tiny little guys that have bikes built around them. MM is the new-school and everyone is playing catch-up.

Bit of an anti climax now the run of wins has ended. However still exciting to see if Rossi can run down Pedrosa for 2nd in the title hunt, and if Bradley can start to come up with better results, now he has a contract for next year.
