Ducati riders Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow will have the added benefit of a recent private test session ahead of this weekend's Misano MotoGP.

For Dovizioso 2014 has marked a strong campaign with two podiums and the Italian is looking forward to his home grand prix having had a string of strong results on the GP14 this year.

That includes last time at Silverstone, where the former 125cc world champion battled Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa for the final podium place throughout the race, finishing within ten seconds of race winner Marc Marquez.

When asked for his thoughts ahead of this weekend Dovizioso had mixed feeling about the track but was looking forward to his second home race of the season:

"Even though I won my first race there on big bikes, Misano is not one of my favourite circuits, but this grand prix is also our second 'home race', so I'm sure the fans will be an extra help!

"It will be not easy to confirm our Silverstone performance, but we had the opportunity to do a good test at Misano before we went to the UK, so we are going there in an optimistic mood."

At the Italian Grand Prix in June, Dovizioso finished sixth but was 17s behind Marquez at the flag.

On the other side of the Ducati garage Cal Crutchlow is struggling to adapt to the Desmosedici and with his move to LCR Honda at the end of the season this will be the Englishman's last race as a Factory Ducati rider in Italy.

Last time out at Silverstone Crutchlow had one of the toughest weekends of his career however having had a recent test at Misano, and being able to get a baseline setup for the electronics, could play a role in allowing him a stronger start to this weekend's race:

"I'm looking forward to Misano," said the 2009 World Supersport champion. "We had a good test there a couple of weeks ago and I felt we found some positives so hopefully this will help for the race weekend. It's another home of Ducati, and being in Italy we have many fans coming to the race so I look forward to improving on the Silverstone result and doing a good job with the team."
