Having lost his Marc VDS seat to Alex Marquez, Mika Kallio will switch to the Italtrans team for the 2015 Moto2 World Championship.

The Finn, currently 22points behind team-mate title leader Esteve Rabat, will ride alongside young Italian Franco Morbidelli. Italtrans, like Marc VDS, use the Kalex chassis.

"I'm happy to be part of Italtrans," said Kallio, who has raced in all three grand prix classes. "I have always considered Italtrans to be an excellent team. In addition, during the talks, I heard them come back often to the same concept: the desire to win. That is the same as my desire to be the best. I still want to win this year's title and also try again next year."

Impressive rookie Morbidelli added: "I am very happy with the agreement, because it means that we have done a good job this year. I'm also happy to know that my partner will be a top rider like Mika. I can learn a lot from him and he will be an important asset to the team. As far as I'm concerned, having more experience, I'll push to the maximum, as always."

Kallio's deal means that Julian Simon will need a new ride for 2015.
