Monster Yamaha Tech 3's Pol Espargaro had the accolade of finishing as the top Yamaha rider as the MotoGP rookie sealed a brilliant fourth place during final qualifying at Aragon.

Espargaro's fastest lap of 1m 49.088s was only 0.350s behind Marc Marquez on pole as the Spanish rider outperformed factory Yamaha stars Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo on the satellite M1.

"It's nice [to be the first Yamaha] and I think it's the first time! But we have to think that it's not really real because they [Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi] have a good rhythm for the race and we are not as fast," he said.

"I don't understand why we are faster than them [Rossi and Lorenzo] on one or two fast laps, but Jorge has a really good rhythm and tomorrow it will be difficult in the race. But tomorrow they will be fast as always."
