MotoGP Australia: Espargaro 'I love everything about it'

"I love everything about this GP: the track, the location, the scenery and Australia in general" - Pol Espargaro.
A Phillip Island winner in the Moto2 class for the past two seasons, Pol Espargaro can't wait for his MotoGP debut at the Australian circuit.

The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team sometimes joke that the reigning Moto2 champion often describes things as fantastic or terrible - rarely anything in-between - but there is no doubting his excitement ahead of this weekend.

Espargaro, who is just one point behind brother Aleix in the fight for sixth and the top non Factory team rider, said: "I am very much looking forward to the Australian Grand Prix as it really is one of my favourite events on the calendar and I am keen to see what I can do on the Yamaha YZR-M1.

“I've always enjoyed this track and have won twice here in back to back seasons, with last year having been my best race so far. With regards to the circuit itself, I liked it even more when it was bumpier before they resurfaced it, but it's still fantastic and always fun to come down Lukey Heights at full speed!

“Even though the wind and the conditions can be troublesome, it all adds to the experience of Phillip Island which is truly unique and unlike any other circuit we go to. I love everything about this GP: the track, the location, the scenery and Australia in general.

“All of that makes it a great event with a super fan base. It feels like a fifth home race for me so I really can't wait to get going!"

Team manager Herve Poncharal added: Pol has a really strong record at Phillip Island and he seems to like the style of this track so we are excited to see what he will be able to do on the Yamaha. Realistically, we expect him to be battling for the top five."

Espargaro has taken seven top-six finishes so far this season, including a best of fourth at Le Mans.

ProfessorX: but I could care less for the clown act from PE
I quess there is nothing else to do when you are rookie and beating your teammate.
Yep, I guess doing well and having a good time really sucks. I can tell from his clownin' round that he is a real hack, and having a terrible time. *sarcasm* Or maybe he just enjoys himself instead of fabricating almost politician-like levels of explanations and excuses. Hey! Where do I get a sweet set of pit crew shades like those? Those might be fun on race day with a few cold ones.
