Jorge Lorenzo says he feels 'quite strong' heading into the Australian MotoGP as he seeks a third consecutive race win to bolster his renewed challenge for the runners-up spot.

After a difficult first-half of the year, two-time champion Lorenzo has rediscovered his form in recent rounds with wins at Aragon and Motegi, the Spaniard in turn moving into the heart of a battle with Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa for second place in the standings.

Qualifying on the front row in third place in Australia, though Lorenzo admits the tricky rear tyre is making things difficult for the riders ahead of the race, he feels his Movistar Yamaha is a good package.

"Our rivals for second place are on the second and third row so I think it is a good position. I am happy with the evolution of the bike, we improved the small details in every sector. We have to improve two or three corners tomorrow, but I think we have our base."

Lorenzo probably has good grounds to be confident considering his latter season form. Marquez will be going to equal the Doohan record though and unlike Jorge, has nothing to lose now. Suspect it to be between the two of them.
