Dani Pedrosa labelled his the record lap times recorded by himself and Marc Marquez at Sepang as 'amazing' as the pair dominated final qualifying.

Marquez sealed his 13th pole position start of the season with Pedrosa finishing 0.182s in arrears with a lap of 1m 59.973s as the pair cracked MotoGP world champion Marquez's 2013 pole record.

As track temperatures reached a searing 56?C, Pedrosa - fastest on Friday and in FP3 - said the times were all the more impressive in the stifling heat.

"It was a good qualifying session. The times that were being put in were amazing, because in this heat the bikes don't normally go that fast and the tyres don't tend to have so much grip," said the Repsol Honda rider, who has won at Sepang for the past two seasons.

"We will try to have a good race, because the last two have not been great for us. We have a strong desire to take a good result, and we also need one if we want to finish runners-up in the championship, but the first thing that we have to do is push 100% tomorrow regardless whether it rains or shines.

"I've had two different races in the last two years [in wet and dry] and we don't know how it is going to be tomorrow," added Pedrosa.

"Yesterday we had some strong rain before the practice, today no rain, so of course we have to be ready for both conditions and I'm hoping for a good race here."

Pedrosa will line up for his 150th MotoGP start tomorrow as he bids to close the gap to Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, who are second and third respectively in the championship.

Marquez is always fast in qualifying and Dani never was a pole man.. So for the race, I would bet for Dani or Jorge specially in Sepang's sweltering heat.. It would be harsh on the tires.
