Scott Redding will conclude his rookie MotoGP season at Valencia on Sunday, when he aims to seal top Open Honda honours during his final ride for the Gresini team.

The Englishman, who is moving to a Factory RC213V at Marc VDS next year, heads into the final round with an eight-point advantage over Aspar's Hiroshi Aoyama.

"We expect another tough battle: we will try to be the best Open Class Honda [in the race], which would mean also keeping first position in the Championship among the riders aboard the RCV1000R machine," said Redding, who is twelfth overall in championship. "This is our goal and it would be nice to end the season achieving it".

Valencia will be Gresini's last race with Honda before becoming the Factory Aprilia team in 2015. Alvaro Bautista will continue at Gresini next year, with Marco Melandri the leading candidate for the second seat, but yet to be confirmed.

"We head to Valencia after a long and really difficult season: of course we will try to end the year in the best possible way, even if there is not much to say, given the recent results. It seems that this is not our season, definitely!" said Bautista, riding the only RC213V with Showa suspension.

"We struggled with a lot of problems and we also suffered bad luck in the last race at Sepang, with a crash on the second lap in which we were involved with no faults. Simply, we have to wait and see what will be the situation after the first free practice, then we will give our best, as always."
