MotoGP Valencia: Dovizioso: Loss of feeling with front cost us

“We have worked well all weekend, but in the afternoon there was a strong wind and I lost a bit of feeling with the front" - Andrea Dovizioso
Andrea Dovizioso experienced the same issue as team-mate Cal Crutchlow as strong winds during final qualifying hampered his progress at Valencia.

The Ducati star completed the session in ninth position with a time of 1m 31.426s but remains hopeful of a marked improvement during the final race of the 2014 MotoGP World Championship.

“We have worked well all weekend, but in the afternoon there was a strong wind and I lost a bit of feeling with the front,” he said.

“I didn't ride as smoothly as I did in the other sessions and unfortunately I was not able to do the times I had expected. We'll see what the conditions are like tomorrow, but I think that for the race we should be OK.”

Ducati test rider Michele Pirro, meanwhile, finished in 12th place to seal a fourth row start, lapping in 1m 32.617s.

“I'm happy in any case because I managed to get into Q2. This morning I wasn't satisfied because I couldn't push hard and I knew I could have done better,” said Pirro.

“In Q1 on the other hand I set a good time, lapping on my own, not far from the times set by the other Ducati riders. Unfortunately in Q2 I didn't have any more new tyres to use: we did a few modifications but in the end I preferred not to take any risks.”
