Petrucci confirmed to ride ex-Crutchlow Ducati

Pramac Racing has confirmed Danilo Petrucci will make use of Cal Crutchlow's Ducati GP14.1 during the 2015 MotoGP World Championship season, unlike team-mate Yonny Hernandez on the GP14.2.

After three seasons with IodaRacing riding CRT machinery, Petrucci will progress to the satellite Ducati team next year in place of Andrea Iannone, who in turn steps up to the lead factory outfit.

Making his debut on the bike during post-season testing earlier in the week, Petrucci has been confirmed to ride the machine Crutchlow used during the 2014 season. By contrast, Hernandez will ride an ex-Iannone GP14.2 bike. New factory team rider Iannone and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso will use the all-new GP15.

"Danilo Pertucci will race with the Ducati Desmosedici GP14.1 used by Cal Crutchlow during season 2014," said team manager Francesco Guidotti. "The mission of the team is to create the conditions for a technical growth from our riders. We hope Yonny Hernandez and Danilo Petrucci will be following Andrea Iannone's steps as he has been protagonist of a huge growth over the past two years in Pramac Racing."

Despite the disparity in the bike specification between his two riders, Guidotti is confident Crutchlow's notable progress during the final stages of the 2014 season will see Petrucci start 2015 on competitive machinery.

"We hope that we always manage to gain points after every race [with Danilo]," he said. "We must see of course the level of our opponents. The GP14.1 ridden by Crutchlow has registered great progresses in the last 5 GPs of the season. We have no doubt that it might improve even more.

"It is correct to underline that Danilo has never ridden a real race motorbike before and this implies a rearrangement and a balancing of his driving style. The GP14.1 must be ridden in a more modern way if compared to others that are less powerful and that he is used to riding."
