Moto3: Vazquez returns with Kiefer Racing

Twice a Moto3 race winner in 2014, Efren Vazquez to get a final shot at title next season.
After heading into the final race of the Moto3 season in Valencia with his future unsure, Efren Vazquez signed a late deal to ride for Kiefer Racing on a Honda machine in 2015 - the German outfit becoming a three man team to accommodate the Spanish star.

According to Vazquez's personal website, his performances at the close of the season were noted by those with the power to help him return to Moto3, allowing him to line up on the grid again next season:

“Thanks to great support from Honda and the support of Dorna, which has been essential to get us a place on the team, we will be able to be on the grid.”

In the final race of the year the number 7 acted as solid support for fellow Honda rider Alex Marquez on his way to becoming Moto3 champion in a race won by his title rival Jack Miller.

In the same statement he also confirmed he will continue his partnership with his personal manager, Alberto Puig.

Vazquez himself enjoyed his most successful season ever since he made his World Championship debut back in 2007, finishing fourth overall while partnering John McPhee at SaxoPrint-RTG, with seven podium finishes including two race wins – Indianapolis, his first ever victory – and Sepang.

At Kiefer he joins another Briton, Danny Kent and rookie Hiroki Ono.

The team make the switch to Honda after running a Kalex KTM in Moto3 last season. Kiefer Racing last tasted success when Stefan Bradl won the Moto2 crown with them back in 2011.

At 28, Vazquez reaches the upper age limit for the lightweight class, marking the 2015 season as his last in Moto3.

NineTimes: That massive soeed advantage of the Honda last season couldn't do him any good. Machine cannot fill talent gap!
What massive speed advantage? While a Honda did achieve top speed in 14 out of 18 meetings, only twice was the advantage more than 4kph (Indy and Valencia) and was less than 2kph in 7 meetings.. The average difference over the season was 1.4kph or less than 1mph. Figures courtesy of official timing. Less than 1mph is not exactly 'massive', is it? Any perceived 'massive' speed advantage is likely to be down to a rider slipstreaming better. Vasquez and McPhee being good examples.

@vilas46 It may be difficult to absorb facts, but my figures are not created in my head, they are the figures recorded at the track by the official timers. One bike may look faster but the speed gun does not lie. The biggest speed boost is by slipstreaming. Vasquez and McPhee are two of the smallest riders and slipstream particularly well, gaining anything up to 10kph. Put them on a KTM and the same thing would happen.. The Honda was a little faster, but not massively so and this is reflected in the results overall. Of the top 10 riders - 5 on KTM, 4 on Honda, 1 on Mahindra. I did watch the races and did see Efren win, but only twice out of 18 races.
