Valencia Moto2 Test: Alex Rins 'very happy' with debut

"The time we've set has been pretty fast for the first time here with Kalex" - Alex Rins.
Moto2 rookie Alex Rins set a best time just a few tenths slower than Pons Kalex regular Luis Salom during this week's Valencia test.

That was only enough to put Rins eighth on the ultra-close unofficial timesheets (0.6s from the top) but given his inexperience the former Moto3 title contender was unsurprisingly pleased with his class debut.

"I'm very happy,” Rins said. “The time we've set has been pretty fast for the first time here with Kalex. Now we cannot stop working hard to continue adjusting to the category and keep improving."

Former Moto3 team-mate and reigning champion Alex Marquez was twelfth fastest and one second behind pace setting team-mate Esteve Rabat.

Salom, fourth in the season-ending grand prix at the same circuit, also left Valencia with positive feelings from the 2015 Kalex.

"The second day was very positive. Already in the first outing we were very fast. In the final run we expected to improve our time but we were only able to match it because we've encountered a lot of traffic.

“It was a shame because we knew we could have gone faster. The feeling is really good and I'm very happy because we have taken a very important step forward. I hope we can continue improving during the next test, the last before the winter break.”

Now Salom has some very big pressure. Last year Alex Rins lost the title for a stupid mistake but was the fastest rider this year he seem to ride under too much pressure and he didn't handle it properly specially after winning the race with 1 lap to go lol. But his is as fast as Vinales and won't have to perform under pressure this year.
