Former MotoGP and WSBK star Max Biaggi emerged victorious during the annual charity Supermoto race at Latina, in memory of Marco Simoncelli.

Competing in pairs for the 58 lap endurance event, the distance matching Simoncelli's race number, Biaggi and team-mate Mauno Hermeunen won by 40s from Ducati MotoGP star Andrea Dovizioso and Thomas Chareyre. WSBK's Leon Haslam and team-mate Luca Minutilli completed the podium in third.

Prior to the main race, a special MotoGP vs WSBK contest was held, which saw Biaggi and Haslam joined in the WSBK team by Christian Iddon and Niccol? Canepa. Representing MotoGP were Dovizioso, Mattia Pasini, Niccol? Antonelli and Matteo Ferrari.

Dovizioso took pole position, but former Supermoto champion Iddon got the better of the Italian by just over one-second in the race, with Biaggi a close third.
