MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo is to race a Ferrari sports car in this weekend's Gulf 12 Hours at the Yas Marina Circuit, venue for the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix.

Around 90 cars will take part in the event, which will see double MotoGP champion Lorenzo driving a Ferrari 458 GT3 alongside Liam Talbot and Marco Zanuttini for the Kessel Racing team.

First practice takes place at 9.15am on Friday, followed by qualifying at 4pm. The Gulf 12 Hours will then be held on Saturday and consists a day and night race, each lasting for six hours.

While Lorenzo takes to the track on four-wheels this weekend, the likes of reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez and former WSBK title winner Troy Bayliss will be participating in the Superprestigio Dirt Track event in Barcelona - which will be attending.

Credit to him for doing other things during the off-season. Pretty sure he's done a few things outside MotoGP during the off-season before. It's only like Marquez resurrecting the Superprestigio because Rossi has ranch races... Marc ''If Rossi does it I will too'' Marquez.

Have to agree. Kudo's to him for doing this, It would have to be a dream to be able to compete in this type of event, whether Rossi has done it before or not, well done JL! Bayliss also revived flat track in Australia a few years back, going to be keen to see how Marquez fares against him because Bayliss is still damn fast on flat track.
