Double MotoGP champion Marc Marquez revealed that a message from Honda bosses on the morning of the Superprestigio event spurred him on to victory, as he overcame a gutsy Jared Mees challenge to win the 'Superfinal' in front of a rapturous home Barcelona crowd.

The 21-year-old Spaniard faced-off against the holder of the coveted American National flat track title in the twelve-lap shoot-out, courtesy of winning all of his prior heats bar one.

Speaking afterwards, Marquez revealed that a mini-MotoGP test with his Spanish technicians prior to the event helped him beat Mees by an eventual margin of just 0.29 seconds.
