Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa was straight back on the pace at Sepang as the second MotoGP test got under way on Monday, slotting into second place on the time sheets behind Valentino Rossi.

Pedrosa's fastest lap was only 0.129s down on the Movistar Yamaha rider as he completed a total of 52 laps at the Malaysian track, setting his quickest time in 2m 00.543s on lap 20.

The Spanish rider focused on mapping settings and suspension and took the opportunity to venture onto the track in the wet following a thunderstorm in the afternoon.

"Today we focused on testing different set-ups for the bike and I think it went well. We have not tried any new parts, instead confirming our findings with what we had at the last test, even though the track was not perfect," said Pedrosa.

"It rained at the end, so we could also ride a little in those conditions. Tomorrow we will continue testing some changes to the set-up, to see if we can come up with some improvements that allow us to ride more comfortably."
