Marc Marquez ironed out the brake problems that plagued him on day one of the second Sepang MotoGP test to top the time sheets on Tuesday.

The Repsol Honda rider, who set the fastest lap ever at Sepang earlier this month in the first test in 1m 58.867s, clocked the fastest lap so far this week in 1m 59.844s to take the top spot ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, but only by 0.059s.

Marquez, who had a minor spill at Turn 4 in the afternoon session, concentrated on electronics settings as his team attempted to make up for the time they lost on Monday as a result of the problem the world champion experienced with the front brake disc on his RC213V.

"Compared to yesterday we improved because we found the problem with the brakes and today we concentrated more to try the new items for the set-up of the character of the engine and electronics," he said.

"We improved and we found something and in the afternoon I was riding really good; tomorrow we will try to continue more things but more on the chassis side. Maybe I will not have time to do a race simulation because we still need time [to finish the planned test programme] but the most important thing is to finish this test with everything clear for Qatar," he added.

"The important thing is that we found the problem [with the brakes], which was really strange and I was sitting in the box because somebody needed to find a solution."

Marquez, who said he came off after running wide onto the dirty part of the track before losing the front end of his Honda, revealed he is working with two bikes at Sepang, including the 'compromise' Honda he tested at the Malaysian circuit earlier this month.

"I am sorry for the team because it was a stupid crash; I went wide and was off line and the track is dirty and then I lose the front," he said.

"I have two bikes, one is the bike from the last test and another one is like the last test bike, but has something different in the chassis for the rear.

"Now I feel really good with the bike I used at the last test and on these two days but tomorrow I will use the other bike and I will see, but at this moment with this one I feel good."
