Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa felt Friday's two free practice sessions enabled him to gain a better feel for the RC213V as he ended the day fifth quickest.

Pedrosa lapped in 1m 55.024s as he finished behind Suzuki's Aleix Espargaro by only 0.030s and 0.202s behind team-mate Marc Marquez in Qatar.

The Spanish rider is keen to secure a strong qualifying position on Saturday on the RC213V after progressing through to Q2 and will use the fourth and final free practice run to make some final adjustments to the Honda.

"Unlike yesterday, today we had two practice sessions and we were able to get more of a feel for both the bike and the track," Pedrosa said.

"I think that getting into Q2 is good and now we have to focus on tomorrow in order to make the final adjustments to the set-up and qualify well for the race.

"Already in the test here we've seen that some riders are close to the top already. So we've seen that somehow in this track, the lap times are really, really close although it's a long lap," he added.

"But it seems quite close, so I think it's very important tomorrow to be focused for qualifying."

On tyre choice, Pedrosa said he would have a clearer picture over his option for Sunday's race after Saturday's action.

"Sure, tomorrow we still have one more chance to sort it out if we still have some doubt, but obviously it's quite mixed now, and I think tomorrow we will have a more clear picture of the tire we want for the race," he said.

"But I guess at the end it's going to be quite similar."

Asked about Casey Stoner's return to action later this year in the Suzuki 8 Hours race, Pedrosa said: "It's a cool experience, I think, to do Suzuka 8 hour. Why not? Maybe one day [will race at Suzuka]. As I said, it's a cool experience."
