Marc Marquez pipped Cal Crutchlow to the fastest lap time during Saturday morning's Free Practice 3 for the Americas MotoGP.

The pair repeated their Friday positions after reigning double world champion Marquez exchanged the top spot with LCR Honda's Crutchlow in the closing minutes.

Marquez put his Repsol Honda 0.188s clear of the Englishman on his twelfth and final lap of the foggy but dry session.

Crutchlow, riding with a new chassis this weekend, was in turn 0.157s clear of Movistar Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, who had a much better session after struggling with bronchitis on his way to eleventh on Friday.

Lorenzo led four M1s in a row on the timesheets, with Valentino Rossi - who set exactly the same time as Lorenzo - Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro fourth to sixth.

Suzuki's Aleix Espargaro was also within half-a-second of Marquez, having twice led the session. Espargaro was the quickest rider with use of the softer Open class rear tyre - Andrea Dovizioso being the top Ducati in eighth, but only 0.548s from the top.

Scott Redding enjoyed his best dry session of the year, leading the early stages on the Marc VDS satellite Honda and finishing 0.644s from the front.

Pramac's Danilo Petrucci snatched the final top ten place and therefore forced Factory GP15 Desmosedici rider Andrea Iannone to take part in this afternoon's Qualifying 1 session.

All riders set their best lap times of the weekend this morning, Marquez's 2m 3.302s being under his own official race lap record, although rain remains a threat for this afternoon.
