Having watched team-mate Valentino Rossi celebrate two wins and a third from the opening trio of 2015 MotoGP races, Jorge Lorenzo is growing impatient for his own success.

The Spaniard approaches this weekend's home Jerez round holding fourth in the world championship, with two fourth places and a fifth.

"For me the bike is more competitive than last year, as Vale has demonstrated. I just need to find my way to go fast again," said the double MotoGP champion. "I think in Qatar I was able to fight for the win apart from this thing with the helmet. Then I was a little bit weak [with sickness] in Austin and I had some problems in Argentina with the tyres.

"When you are on the top and faster than your rivals if you have some little problems it doesn't change your position. But when you are a little bit slower and have some little problems, now there are a lot of riders very competitive in MotoGP and you are in third fourth or fifth position.

"So we have to improve this two or three tenths and then we will again be always fighting for the win."

But already 29 points behind Rossi, a first 2015 podium is his minimum target for Sunday.

"Valentino won two races so for sure he has much more points compared to us, but obviously it could be worse, like last year. But obviously it's not the places where we want to be. At least we want to fight for the podium and I think Jerez is the perfect place to do it. So we are going to try."
