World Superbike rookie and reigning World Supersport champion Michael van der Mark could make his MotoGP debut at Assen this weekend.

According to Dutch website the 22-year-old, who claimed two WSBK podiums for Pata Honda at Assen this year and will be teaming-up with Casey Stoner and Takumi Takahashi for the Suzuka 8 Hours, is "almost certain" to replace the injured Karel Abraham at his home event.

Abraham suffered a foot injury last time in Catalunya, leaving him unfit to ride his Open class Honda - the only RC213V-RS using Showa rather than Ohlins suspension and Nissin instead of Brembo brakes.
