Ricky Cardus has departed from the Tech 3 Moto2 team and is to be replaced by Spanish teenager Xavi Vierge.

Cardus delivered his best ever grand prix season, highlighted by seventh place in Catalunya, after being drafted in to replace the injured Alex Marinelarena during 2014.

Both Cardus and team-mate Marcel Schrotter have had a much tougher time on the Mistral 610 machine in 2015, but while the German has claimed 12 points Cardus has been unable to score.

"The Tech3 Racing Team fully appreciates Cardus' dedication last year with only a limited amount of preparation before the season and wants to thank him for his tireless as well as continued efforts. Furthermore, the team would like to wish him luck with all future endeavours," said a Tech 3 statement.

"Cardus will be replaced by the CEV Moto2 race winner Xavi Vierge for the remainder of the 2015 season. The 18 year old was born in Barcelona and climbed through the ranks of the domestic scene in Spain, before competing in the CEV Moto3 class for two years and then moving up to the CEV Moto2 series.

"Vierge is familiar with the Mistral 610 having successfully ridden it in the CEV Moto2 category this year to a race win and three additional podiums in the opening five rounds. He now gets the opportunity to make his first appearance in the world Moto2 class, at the 10th round of the world championship in Indianapolis where he faces the challenge of learning the American circuit but he fully intends to have a positive first race in the fiercely competitive intermediate class.

"The future nine races will give the young Spaniard the opportunity to learn the new race tracks for the future and also become accustomed to the challenging international racing environment."
