MotoGP Brno: Momentum with Marquez, ready for a battle

Marc Marquez heads to Brno looking to maintain his momentum and continue chipping away at Valentino Rossi's lead in the MotoGP standings.
Marc Marquez says he is 'ready for a battle' as he sets his sights on the third consecutive MotoGP World Championship win that would haul him further into the title fight.

Wins in Germany and the United States have seen Marquez make steady in-roads into Valentino Rossi's MotoGP World Championship advantage, the pair now split by 56 points as the Spaniard applies more pressure on the leaders.

Indeed, Marquez is pleased his second straight win has allowed him to develop some momentum, even if he admits the upcoming race in the Czech Republic at Brno – where his remarkable race-winning streak in 2014 was brought to an abrupt conclusion with a fourth place finish last year – isn't a favourite of his.

“It was a tough race in Indianapolis, very demanding, but I'm really happy to have taken two consecutive wins," the Repsol Honda rider said. "We were able to enjoy the victory on Sunday night and now we are already on our way to Brno for the next race.

“This isn't one of my favourite tracks and I've had mixed results here in the past but we arrive there with good momentum and we will work hard to be ready for a battle!"

2nd half of the season could get interesting but really, Rossi hasn't finished off the podium since Aragon *last year* ... his consistency is incredible and for Marc to catch up to 2nd place will be a feat in itself. I doubt Marc can win the championship unless Rossi makes a big blunder and scores a DNF. Same with Lorenzo, although Lorenzo is either winning races or off the podium due to tyre allocation, there's a lot more variables for him.
