Having been on the back foot for much of the Indianapolis weekend, MotoGP title leader Valentino Rossi is eager for a more competitive outing at Brno.

While the Italian was once again able to defy a poor qualifying performance to keep a perfect 2015 podium run alive in the race, his championship lead over Movistar Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo was cut to nine points.

It could have been much worse for The Doctor, who secured third from Dani Pedrosa with a re-pass on the final lap, while Lorenzo only lost the lead to the other Repsol Honda of Marc Marquez in the closing stages.

"There isn't much time to rest but I'm happy to go to the Czech Republic," Rossi said. "In the end the Indianapolis GP was a good race, another podium is a good result.

"The American weekend didn't start very well and it was very difficult to find the better setting for the race. At the end, after warm up, we had done a good job and third place for us was really good result. We are still first in the championship and that's fine.

"For me Brno is a nice track, I like it better than Indianapolis, but at the same time, my team-mate Jorge Lorenzo is very strong in Brno. Marquez will also be strong, as he was in Indy. We'll have to do the maximum again in this weekend to not lose any more points, but I'm feeling positive and I think that we will make it a good weekend."

Rossi took his first ever grand prix victory at Brno in 1996 and has claimed five premier-class wins, although the most recent was in 2009. Last year he finished in third place behind Pedrosa and Lorenzo.

In what Rossi will be hoping is a good omen, this year's Czech Grand Prix is the 46th to be held at Brno.

Despite their dominant positions at the head of the championship, Rossi and Lorenzo have only finished 1-2 in two out of the ten races this year.

Those were Le Mans and Catalunya, where Lorenzo kept out of Rossi's reach on both occasions, meaning fans are yet to see a victory showdown between the M1 riders.

livewoutlimit: Anyone know the previous results here btwn MM, VR, & JL for past few years? In other words, who's track is this?[\blockquote]

Dani, VR and JLo are quite good at Brno, not the favorite track of Marc.
