Andrea Iannone pointed toward a new seat position and significant chassis tweaks as the reason he closed the overall gap to the MotoGP race winner in Brno.

The 26-year old had beaten team-mate Andrea Dovizioso in each race since Le Mans in early May and, opting for the GP15 without engine and fairing upgrades for Sunday's race, was again the top Ducati finisher, coming home just 13 seconds behind Jorge Lorenzo.

Having worked significantly on honing the chassis in Free Practice, Iannone was able to brake harder and better when the bike was leant over on entry to Brno's 14 corners.

"I think it was a really good day because my feeling with the bike is really good," said the Italian on Sunday. "I ride really well. When I stay in the track in this race I have a good motivation and feeling with the bike. I push really strong, at 100 percent, and the bike improve a lot in this weekend compared with the last five races and this is really important.

"In this track I try two different seats and many set-ups in the chassis. For sure I use a new seat. It was a little more down. It arrive in the Misano test and it's a little bit new parts. So it's really interesting because in this track I have a good feeling with these changes and upgrades.

"For this I want to focus at 100 percent, not at the engine or wheelie but also in the chassis because this seat request a different set-up in the chassis to use at 100 percent. This improves a lot in the braking point when you use the brake in the first part of the corner, when the bike is on the angle. When the bike has more speed it stop better."

Asked whether finishing ahead of Dovizioso after a straight fight was significant, he said, "I'm happy because for sure my objective is the first Ducati but I want to fight with the best riders.

"For me Dovi is a really strong rider but at the moment I think about Dovi he is more strong than the whole performance now. This race I stay with him especially in the braking point I was very strong. This help me have a good battle with him and I'm happy to arrive ahead."

Iannone confirmed the upgraded GP15, which Dovizioso used to finish sixth in the race, will be tested again in Silverstone.

"For sure, yes, [I will test it]. Silverstone has a long straight and the speed is really high. I hope the new engine improve the performance. It's a really good help."
