Pramac Ducati has confirmed that they are currently in talks with Scott Redding to ride in its colours in 2016 with team manager Francesco Guidotti stating he is 'pretty confident' the Englishman will sign.

At the same time he clarified that Moto3 championship leader Danny Kent's chances of lining up for the second Ducati outfit in 2016 have ended.

After the team confirmed it had made Kent a three-year offer to jump up to the premier class in 2016 in Brno, the focus has since shifted towards Redding after the Moto3 championship leader couldn't agree terms with the Italian outfit.

On Friday Redding admitted a decision on whether to accept Pramac's terms was required before Sunday, something Guidotti recognised, stating, "Yeah, the final decision could be during this weekend."

It appears some final details need to be agreed between the two parties, but Guidotti seemed confident that an agreement would be reached in the very near future. "We're still speaking," he said on Friday evening. "We are waiting to clear up some details. It seems that we are in the right way."

Pressed to rate the chances of Redding appearing alongside current rider Danilo Petrucci in the Pramac Ducati set-up in 2016, Guidotti replied, "I'm pretty confident. I would say seventy-thirty [in favour of him signing] but with time you never know."

Redding said on Friday that the contract would be with Pramac with added Ducati support but Guidotti claimed this was one of the terms of the contract that is still open to discussion. However, as was the case with Kent's offer, machinery that is very close to factory spec will be available to the Englishman.

The team moved to sign Redding at the close of 2014 when it became apparent that the Englishman's then team - Gresini Racing - wouldn't continue with Honda the following year.

Redding, however, opted to rejoin Marc VDS, the team that so nearly took him to Moto2 world championship honours in 2013, aboard a 'Factory' spec Honda RC213V for 2015, a season which has since failed to live up to expectations.

"We made already last year a proposal to him and this year it's a different condition, a different circumstance. We made a new offer. Also because we understood that he was available.

"Last year he was available after the problems with the Gresini team that moves from Honda to Aprilia. He had a contract and Honda was more keen to keep him. This year it seems that everything is going together. Let's wait for the final details that sometimes make the difference. We hope that this time we can reach the agreement.

"Our consideration and opinion on him didn't change in one year. We know that he face some difficulties with his bike, as [Cal] Crutchlow did already. It's the same reason that Marc moved back to the 2014 model bike. We know that he has some problems and we'll try to try again."

Speaking of the reasons why Kent didn't sign, Guidotti explained, "This period in racing things happen pretty quickly. We consider with Kent all the project which was with Ducati and so on. Maybe it's better for him that he follow the step-by-step way to approach MotoGP than to make it all in once. We are considering more experienced MotoGP rider.

"Of course Danny needs to think about that project, to feel really ready. Somehow he was. He's a clever guy, more than his 21 years. But little consideration and factors make everything move in another direction. It's not the fault of someone or some big moment.

"As I told you considering the Ducati project is still developing. We will have the new bike next year. From the technical point of view it's better to have some experienced rider to help development and to speed this up and help development. This is one of the factors that has a big influence in the final decision."

Despite this, Guidotti and Pramac wouldn't rule out considering Kent for a MotoGP berth after 2016 as the Englishman's intelligence and maturity was apparent throughout negotiations.

"It's little things, little considerations and we move in a new direction. I'm still considering Danny as a potential MotoGP rider. I'm still considering Danny as a very clever guy. All character that can be considered in the near future. Maybe not next year but in the very near future."
