Andrea Iannone hopes to use the extra motivation generated by competing in front of Ducati's partisan fans at Misano this weekend to spur him to a solid result.

Iannone has only contested two premier class races at the Marco Simoncelli circuit but qualified on the front row last year before ending the race in fifth place.

The Italian rider currently occupies fourth position in the MotoGP World Championship standings and is 30 points clear of his Ducati team-mate Andrea Dovizioso in fifth.

"I am very happy to come back and race in Italy. Misano is one of our home circuits, just like Mugello and in general it's a positive track for me, so we think we can be fast and competitive throughout the weekend and we'll try and bring home a good result," said Iannone.

"Of course racing in front of my fans and all the diehard ducatisti will be extra motivation to do well and so I can't wait to get out on track."
