Eugene Laverty remains focused on finishing as the top Open class rider for the first time this season at Misano on Sunday.

The Irish rider was confident of challenging for a points finish at Silverstone on the Power Electronics Aspar Honda after heading the Open times in the dry, but wet weather scuppered his chances on the RC213V-RS.

Laverty says his expectations have risen since the summer break after making some good strides with the Honda and the 29-year-old is in high spirits entering the San Marino MotoGP.

"Our expectations have risen over the past few rounds as we've continued to make good steps forward with our Open Honda," he added.

"The team have done a fantastic job in giving me the best possible bike since the summer break and I aim to repay their hard work with a points-scoring finish on Sunday."
