Cal Crutchlow described his Saturday as 'a f**king disaster' after he missed the top ten cut in FP3 and qualified a disappointing eleventh for the MotoGP race in Misano.

The Englishman couldn't find a comfortable setting on either of his two bikes as he continues to struggle mid-corner and on corner exit.

After a promising display aboard the hard compound rear tyre on Friday morning, Crutchlow felt a top-five finish would be possible. A day later and he joked his aims have changed to a top-fifteen, as four Ducatis and a Suzuki on soft tyres eventually pushed him outside the top ten.

"A f**king disaster," said a frustrated Crutchlow. "After yesterday's morning session when we used the hard rear tyre and we were quite good with it I thought we were going to be in for a top five this weekend. At the moment it looks like a top 15 maybe. We scraped through in Q1 to 2 and went no faster. You can see from the TV that our bike is so much more unstable than the other guys. We went with two different bikes and they're both exactly the same, look the same.

"We need to look through what we can change. The other guys have the experience of the test but I don't think it's about that now. Jorge has caught up and the other guys too. You'd expect Ducati to be further up and Suzuki than what they are. We need to improve it. We had two bikes with quite big differences and the feeling on them was exactly the same. Hopefully we can have half a miracle, turn it around and have a decent race."

A common theme among the HRC supported riders, Crutchlow identified the track's third sector in particular as the area in which he struggles.

"We can brake. We probably gain three tenths in the braking. It's going around the corner, going out of the corner, going down the straight where we lose the rest. we have a strong engine. We can't use it. We have no grip on the exit of the corner.

"From that first gear corner where we have to hook gears it's not good. We definitely gain in braking. We have our own video and we gain two or three tenths in one braking area. At turn ten. Into there we hammer them. Coming out of there, into the next fast right. If we can make the bike go in a straight line and not fight with the bike it'd be a lot easier."
