Marc Marquez comfortably led Jorge Lorenzo in warm-up at Misano by a full 0.6s ahead of a potentially pivotal MotoGP race.

A day after making a mistake that he felt cost him a shot at pole position, Marquez stormed to the top spot with a medium front and rear tyre fitted.

Lorenzo brushed aside a late incident with team-mate Valentino Rossi in qualifying and posted a ten lap run that began in the low 1m 33s before ending around half a second slower.

Andrea Iannone showed quick speed across one lap to place third, 0.035s off Lorenzo, and used a soft rear tyre to set his best time.

Marquez pointed toward Dani Pedrosa's pace as reason to be wary on Saturday. The Spaniard was fourth on Sunday morning, a place ahead of Pol Espargaro.

Valentino Rossi had the winglets fitted to his Yamaha fairing for his session. Although sixth, Rossi's eleven-lap run contained a smattering of laps in the mind 33s, much like Lorenzo's later pace.

Bradley Smith headed Andrea Dovizioso and Scott Redding while Michele Pirro rounded out the top ten.
