Bradley Smith was keeping his spirits up after a tough day on Saturday at the Australian MotoGP, which saw the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider qualify in 12th place.

Smith came off on his out lap in FP4 and lost some time in the session to experiment with different set-up changes, but the Briton is still targeting the top eight at Phillip Island as he bids to consolidate sixth place in the world championship standings.

"It was an entry high-side, which was my first one ever, so it was a little bit of a surprise but we're struggling to warm up the tyres, especially the right side," said Smith of his FP4 spill.
