Moto2 World Champion Johann Zarco has set his sights on matching Marc Marquez's record of 14 podiums in the class this weekend at Sepang in Malaysia.
Zarco finished seventh at Phillip Island in the previous round and the Ajo Motorsport rider is eager to return to top-three contention this weekend at the penultimate round of the championship, when another rostrum finish would see him match Marquez's 2012 haul of 14 podiums.
The Frenchman is also 28 points shy of the two-time MotoGP champion Marquez's record tally of points for a single season in the intermediate class and has an excellent chance to establish a new benchmark in that respect with two races still to go.
“I hope this weekend the feelings are better than last week. Although the result was not what we expected, I think the last GP helped us to learn,” said Zarco.
“In Malaysia, as every year, I'm sure the heat will make things difficult. Last year I was very close to the podium [finishing fourth], so I think this year we can be in the fight for victory. It will be important to find good line with the Kalex at such a wide circuit.
“We just have to continue working as we have been doing and enjoy ourselves on the bike. We want to win again.”
