Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso admitted he was far from happy after struggling with the front-end feel of his GP15 in free practice at Sepang in Malaysia.

Dovizioso was seventh fastest in FP2 and eighth overall on the combined times after a lap in 2m 01.127s, which left him eight tenths adrift of Movistar Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo.

"We have to understand how to keep the positive feeling on the stability on the braking but we need a better grip on the front," said Dovizioso.

"I'm not happy because the feeling on the front is not enough and we tried something interesting in the afternoon for braking stability, which we improved quite a lot, but we lose the grip in the middle of the corner on the front.

"It was a difficult day for me, because I hoped to be closer to the front, but we're still a long way off. My bike has improved a lot from last year's in several areas, but we have lost out in others and on certain tracks we can go well, on others not so good," he added.

"My pace at the moment is not good to stay at the front and today we tried various things, some positive, some not so much, and I hope that they will be enough to understand the right direction for tomorrow and help us to improve a little bit more."

Dovizioso, meanwhile, said the haze at Sepang wasn't causing any issues in terms of visibility on the track.

"We can see the track very well and for us it doesn't make a difference and on the track visibility is fine," he said.
