High drama here in Malaysia as MotoGP championship leader Valentino Rossi makes contact with Marc Marquez, sending the Honda rider down.

Rossi's Thursday accusations against Marquez came back to haunt him as the pair become embroiled in a relentless on-track battle for third.

Rossi and Marquez swapped places on countless occasions, Rossi at one point waving his hand at Marquez in frustration. But it all turned nasty when the Italian appeared to lose his cool, sitting up and looking over at Marquez twice as he forced the Spaniard wide on the entry to Turn 14.

In danger of running off track, Marquez eventually leaned in, resulting in the contact that sent him to the ground. The #93 rejoined only to ride his damaged RCV back to the pits.

The incident will now be examined by Race Direction, especially due to a possible kick from Rossi, who faces the very real risk of a penalty.

"Unfortunately I lose a lot of time with Marc and at Turn 14 I try to go a bit wide to take a better line and make him slow, because he just ride to cause me problem," Rossi said in parc ferme.

"But unfortunately, I don't know, he [Marquez] come to me and I think he crashed at that moment.

"Anyway it is a shame because I think in a normal race we can stay and fight with Jorge. So we lose some more points and Valencia will be more difficult."

Dani Pedrosa won the race from Rossi's title rival Jorge Lorenzo meaning Rossi's championship lead is set to be cut from 11 to 7 points heading into the Valencia season finale - even before any penalty is applied.

"For me it's clear Valentino deliberately kicked the bike of Marc and that is why Marc crashed," declared Honda team manager Livio Suppo.

Crash - why would you state that Rossi took Marquez out? Are you God or something? Are you from Spain? Are you trying to manipulate the situation by such a comment. Seems out that this topic would be titled as such. Sorta of a #dooshbag way of getting hits to your page if that was the motive...

Ok Livio, I know you have to side with your boy but Marquez could have easily went around Rossi but he charged close to him and initiated the contact. I'm not saying what Rossi did was correct but given the situation, comments, etc., I know Rossi was without a doubt upset with Marquez but I'm not buying that minor contact of the tip of Rossi's boot would have taken him out. He was in a right hand turn with his body looking to the left in disapproval and when Marquez got close to him he went to get his foot back straight on the peg (he got his foot under the shifter peg to downshift - reverse shifter) as he accelerated from the corner and Marquez crashed. Come on, Marquez obviously had some traction issues with front tire and he went up under Rossi so hot at times you would almost think he was going to take them both out but in GP aspect they were barely moving at that point and he crashes. He closed in on Rossi, made contact and it cost him - a wrecked GP bike and out the race. The who

ManishworshipsValentino: Before Rossi kicks him down, it's clear Marquez had hit Rossi's leg. It's within fractions. I know many won't agree but please look the video again. I see it that way. I may be wrong.[\blockquote]

I have to agree with you. The were going so slow at that point Rossi had to get his foot back up under his shifter to downshift to accelerate out the corner but looking back pissed and Marquez made contact at that exact moment. Seems odd to me that Marquez was making aggressive passes about to loose the front then minor contact and crashes. Weird. Marquez was probably expecting to power out the corner with a little lean angle and wondering what the heck Val was doing, they made contact, going to slow and he was leaning on him at that point and he crashed.

norirossifumi: Motogp will never be the same again. Mark my words. Whatever the outcome. You have a guy not involved in the championship clearly trying to affect the outcome. The sport just lost a lot today. To let personal vendettas ruin a championship that everyone wanted to see come down between Rossi and Lorenzo.

As for the incident, Rossi didn't bang his bike into Marquez. He simply rode that corner to the widest part. Either Marquez backs off and falls in behind or he could have let Rossi go a little bit infront, square up his line and drive inside. But what did he do? He steered into the side of Rossis' bike and caused himself to fall. [\blockquote]

Thank you! Not only did you see exactly what I saw, you think exactly as I do as well. Marquez could battle very aggressively but he was unable to 'attempt'' to break away from Rossi. Come on? For sure something is going on there. How many times....no, have we ever seen Marquez fall back through the pack........to Ross

hoppy:
Neal: There is no way logically you can penalize Rossi because he did a move that is done hundreds of time a race, a simple block pass. Getting in front of a riders line and slowing them down to get ahead.

The reason Marc crashed was he wasn't expect Rossi to do that at that point in the race and ran into him.

Oh, and shame on this website for propagating the Rossi kick story, marc hit Rossi's leg with his helmet from behind causing it to move. [\blockquote]

Mate, you were obviously watching a different race to everyone else.
How the hell was it a bloc pass?
Val slowed right down and was looking over his left shoulder to find Marc. Why would you be looking left whilst going around a right hand bend?
He deliberately ran Marc wide whilst looking at him the shoved him off with his left knee.
i wish you guys would stop trying to blame this on Marc when it was clearly a deliberate move pulled by Val.
You are trying to defend the in defensible.[\blockquot

Biaggi must be having the best laugh witnessing his arch nemesis throwing away a championship, what a payback for all he had suffered when racing him.
