Tech 3 Racing's new Moto2 line-up of Xavi Vierge and Isaac Vinales completed their final test of 2015 at Valencia on Tuesday.
Riding at the scene of his double victory in the CEV Moto2 championship last weekend, Vierge - who joined Tech 3's grand prix team midway through this season - completed 156 laps.
The 18-year-old focused on the new KYB suspension, which Tech 3 will use in 2016, setting a best lap time of 1m 35.893s. That was 1.4s behind fastest man and reigning world champion Johann Zarco, but almost one-second under Vierge's best lap in the season-ending race (using Ohlins suspension).
“I am very happy with the work that we have undertaken during these two days of testing at Valencia and we can leave the circuit feeling positive and excited for next season,” said the Spaniard. “The Tech 3 team worked really hard and we sampled a lot of new settings in preparation for the upcoming year.
“However, now it's time to recharge the batteries so that we can start the 2016 season on fire and be strong as soon as the wheels turn. I'm already looking forward to jumping back on the bike and I must say thank you very much to the sponsors and all of the team for their great efforts in 2015, and I aim to go one step further next year.”
Team-mate and Moto2 rookie Isaac Vinales finished the opening day with a best time of 1m 37.683s, which he lowered by over half a second on day two.
“Overall I am quite satisfied with how the two day test went for me in Valencia and I am excited about what lies ahead with the Tech 3 Racing Team,” he said. “I rode the Mistral 610 for the first time at the Jerez test last week and my first impressions were positive. We continued our work here and we know exactly what we have to do to improve.
“It's costing me a bit of time to adapt to the Moto2 class, but I realise that I must work hard during the winter months in order to be in a better physical shape as it's more demanding in the intermediate class. I'm happy with the work that the team undertook and I am certain that we can have a strong season together. I look forward to working hard over the winter so that I can be ready for 2016.”
