MotoGP: Four-wheel ride for Miller on LCR farewell

“It was great to get out there and get a go in a race car” – Jack Miller.
Some of MotoGP rookie Jack Miller's final appearances in LCR colours have included a visit to the EICMA show and ride in a World Touring Car Championship Type R.

The WTCC outing saw Honda rider Miller join four-wheel racers Gabriele Tarquini, Tiago Monteiro, Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden and Jack Clarke at Italy's Circuito Tazio Nuvolari, Cervesina.

The Australian put on a show with his RC213V MotoGP machine, experienced the new Type R as both passenger and driver, and received a driving lesson from Monteiro at the wheel of the Castrol Honda Civic WTCC machine.

“It was an awesome day today, so thanks to the Castrol Honda guys!” Miller said. “It was great to get out there and get a go in a race car. I've done all sorts of other sports but never really driven a race car or anything like that so it was really cool.

“You can definitely get a really good feel and I'm pleased that we could get a dry line and the slick tyres on. Tiago was really calm next to me, considering we had a few spins!”

Earlier in the week Miller has been at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, paying a visit to many of LCR's sponsors.

"It's the first time I've ever been at the EICMA in Milan, and I really enjoyed myself. It's a great show, absolutely massive in fact, and it was good to see all the new bikes. I just wanted to come over to Italy to say a big thank you to all of LCR Honda's sponsors that supported me so well in my rookie year in MotoGP.

“I have felt part of the LCR family since day one, and am grateful of the opportunity I have had to work with good people and enjoy a positive first year at the top level.”

Miller is moving to Marc VDS for 2016, when LCR will revert to a single entry for Cal Crutchlow.

“It was always going to be a big step for Jack to move straight from Moto3 into the MotoGP class, but I think his performances this year have proved just what a huge talent he is,” said LCR team principal Lucio Cecchinello.

“He finished as top Open rider early in the season in Argentina, and then again at his home race in Australia, and often during practice he was finishing sessions as top Open bike, which I believe shows his real capabilities.

“We are proud to have had Jack in the LCR family this season and we wish him all the very best in his 2016 campaign.”
