Andrea Dovizioso opens the top ten countdown for your MotoGP Star of the Year vote, the Italian slipping seven places relative to last year's ranking.

Dovizioso gave Gigi Dall'Igna's new GP15 a stunning debut by finishing just 0.174s from what would have been the factory's first victory since 2010, in the Qatar season opener.

By round five, Dovi had continued the momentum to notch up three second places and a third, enough to be talked about as a potential title contender.

Yet Dovizioso would be seen just once more on the rostrum during the remaining 13 rounds, in the wet at Silverstone. While Yamaha and Honda upped their game, the balance of power in the Ducati garage also swung from Dovizioso to team-mate Andrea Iannone as the #4 spoke increasingly of braking issues.

A rider famous for his lack of mistakes, Dovizioso failed to score in four events and eventually slipped to seventh in the final standings, two places lower than last season and with 25 less points.

About the vote:
Rather than repeat the Riders' World Championship standings, the MotoGP Star of the Year poll expects viewers to take into account factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, riding style, experience, injuries, progress and personality just as much as race results.

Over 100,000 votes were cast for the 2015 MotoGP Star of the Year poll, where viewers awarding each of this year's participants with a mark out of ten.

PunkySic.......Dovi's problems started as early as round 6 of the season, 3 no-scores and a 12th over the next 4 races and he never recovered.. I think that if there was a loss of confidence it came down to that rather than what the other Andrea was doing. All credit to Iannone though, but Dovi's two main strengths of braking extremely late and not falling off went by the wayside for some reason. The two Andreas suffered 7 no-scores between them.......Not good enough Ducati !
