Jerez Moto2/Moto3 Test: Lowes riding high in Spain

Team Federal Oil Gresini's Sam Lowes makes strong start to Jerez Moto2 test in Spain after posting second fastest time.
Sam Lowes was consistently involved at the sharp end during day one of the Jerez Moto2 test in Spain on Wednesday as the Team Federal Oil Gresini rider finished second fastest on the time sheets.

Lowes was only 0.018s behind Thomas Luthi at the top following his best lap on the Kalex in 1m 42.389s.

The 25-year-old British rider worked on his race pace using worn tyres and tested some new parts provided by Kalex and Ohlins

“It's been a really good first day, we tested some new parts for Kalex and Ohlins and we worked a lot on used tyres,” said Lowes.

“I'm really happy because we are working good for the race pace: we did a not bad lap time and also many runs with fast laps.

“We have some more things to try tomorrow, today we worked also a little bit looking for more grip and we'll continue tomorrow.”
