Sam Lowes reflected on a 'fantastic' day as the Team Federal Oil Gresini rider completed the official Moto2 test at Jerez in Spain.
The British rider headed the times with a lap in 1m 42.075s to top Friday's charts, which was good enough for second place overall on the combined time sheets, 0.345s behind Axel Pons.
Lowes has been consistently involved at the head of the times throughout the three-day test and showed impressive race pace with a rhythm constantly under the 1'43 mark during a 15-lap simulation on Friday.
The 25-year-old is feeling super confident with his performance and believes he is poised to fight for victory in the season opener in Qatar on March 20.
“It's been a fantastic day, we worked really hard in the first two days and today we managed to keep the same direction,” Lowes said.
“This morning I did a long run with 15 laps all in 1'42, the last one in 1'42”2, which is incredible. In the afternoon we tried some new parts from Kalex, then in the final stages we pushed a little bit for the lap time, but not at the maximum, still doing a good job.
“I'm really happy because we ended the test in second position, but I was the fastest today,” he added.
“For sure we have the best pace and we can fight to win, this is the target. A massive thank you to the team, I can't wait for Qatar.”
The final pre-season test takes place in Qatar at the Losail International Circuit from March 11-13.
