Britain's Danny Kent is approaching this weekend's opening round of the Moto2 World Championship in Qatar in a relaxed and confident frame of mind following the completion of the final pre-season test at the Losail International Circuit.
The Moto3 World Champion's fastest time of 2m 00.260s left him 11th overall in the combined standings, 0.855s behind fellow countryman Sam Lowes as he looks towards the beginning of official practice under the floodlights on Thursday.
Kent skipped the first session on the final day of the test on Sunday, venturing out when temperatures had dipped somewhat and focusing on the suspension set-up of his Leopard Racing Kalex.
“For me it has been a very successful three days of testing. Me, my team and my crew chief we've learned a lot and I feel we've made another step and ever closer again,” Kent said.
“Still there are a few bits I need to work on personally with my riding style, which, you know, I know I need to change my riding style to go faster but step-by-step we're getting closer to the front.
“We're only half a second off the top five and lap times at the moment are really quick so I think me and the team are doing a really good job,” he added.
“I'm happy with how we're all working and now we have a couple of days break, time to sit down and relax a little while analysing our data before coming back for the first race of 2016. Start again on Friday and try to make that next step while working on myself.”
