Pol Espargaro has explained that he doesn't foresee his future being resolved anytime soon and has insisted that he is fully focussed on breaking his way into the MotoGP top six.

In light of his comments in Qatar, where he said he didn't expect to be lining up in Tech 3 Yamaha colours in 2017, Espargaro was tight lipped during his appearance in the pre-event press conference in Argentina.

Speaking to Crash.net soon after, Espargaro reiterated that it was still 'too early' to talk of future plans.

"No, I think this will be long," he said in response to a question on whether his future will be resolved in the upcoming weeks. "Everyone now is speaking about moving but in the end we have to wait but it's too early. The moment has to be freethinking and smart so it doesn't make sense to make everything too fast."

Espargaro's situation is somewhat different to that of team-mate Bradley Smith, who announced that he will sign for KTM's MotoGP project at the close of this season.

Having started his third year in Yamaha's satellite squad, Espargaro admitted that, while being the focus inside a factory-backed outfit has its appeals, his focus remains on improving on his ninth place overall in the world championship from 2015.

"To go in a factory team is always good. You have to see if to go with a brand new team that is just developing a bike, would be good as well, as you expect or not. To go with a factory for all the riders is good. It's about the team. Performance, for sure, is better. They take care of you much more than in a satellite.

"Anyway we are so good now where we are and we don't have to think about next year or the next two years. It's too early. We have a lot to improve now."

On the season opener in Qatar, the 2013 Moto2 world champion stated that the 2016 spec electronics were not 'as bad as I expect' during the 22-lap race.

"It will improve," he said of the Magneti Marelli package. "We started with a base that was not amazing but it was not really bad. For sure it will improve. We are testing. Yamaha is working so much with the electronics. Race-by-race and test-by-test we will make some small improvements but at the end of the race they are big ones.

"For sure we have to learn a little bit more, to improve a little bit more but it was not as bad as I expect. Actually I like it because the bike is more free and you're able to ride more in your style. This is quite good."
