As rumours continue to swirl that MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo will move from Yamaha to Ducati next season, current factory Desmosedici star Andrea Dovizioso is focussed on results.
If Lorenzo does join the Italian team it would be at the expense of either Dovizioso or current team-mate Andrea Iannone.
Speaking in the Argentina paddock on Saturday, Dovizioso suggested keeping his seat 'is just about my results', which probably means the top performing Ducati rider will remain.
“It's not easy, but for me at this moment, I don't have to think too much about that [2017 speculation], just because I have to be concentrated about my results,” he said. “And my results will affect my future.
“So it's not about I have to speak with the right people to have a better bike, it's just about my results. So I'm focused on that, that's why it's quite easy for me in this moment.”
Dovizioso claimed second place in the season-opening Qatar round, where Iannone fell from the lead group.
The pair have qualified fifth (Dovizioso) and sixth (Iannone) for today's race.
